Kartrite's Kurse Haunted House
Kartrite's Kurse Haunted House
Come experience eerie adventure like never before. Dare to join expeditions into the natural world and beyond! Follow in the footsteps and worldly travels of Kartrite Van Der Berris, the epic explorer who founded Camelback in the Pocono Mountains many years ago. Experience Kartrites’ most harrowing explorations and encounters. Kartrite’s Kurse is a modern-day animatronic wonder, with 12 spooky, yet fun-filled adventures set to dazzle young and old at Camelback’s Glen Lodge. Each room is a carefully depicted recreation of Kartrite’s quests taken from the pages of his own journal entries.
Journal Entry 24-2 Day 13 - Mayan Mischief: Looking for the lost treasure of of Xunantunich, Kartrite and his team got separated in the Mayan tombs of Western Belize for 3 days. The oil in Kartrite’s torch was extinguished after day one – the rest of the journey was shrouded in darkness with only faint light to guide him. And that was just the beginning of his travails. Start your journey here.
Journal Entry 61–14, Day 17 - Long Legged Lair: As Kartrite’s journey took him deeper into the jungle, he took shelter from torrential rains in a cave that barely fit five men. It was then that he noticed the walls – they seemed to move. Upon directing his team to direct their torches to the walls and ceiling above, they all began to shudder, as the largest spiders ever seen, encompassed them with strong webs. Stay alert! Look up. Look down. There are bewitching creatures of all shapes and sizes waiting for you to pass.
Journal Entry 87–4, Day 5 - Torrid Treasure Hunters: Howard Carter and Kartrite explored the Tombs of Ankhesenamun while being pursued by Middle Eastern treasure hunters. Their ancient spells and concoctions left Kartrite clutching to his last breath a number of times. Thankfully, he always had a mixture of antidotes at the ready. The treasure hunters still walk among us, be careful my friends as you may never know who they are until they are right behind you.
Journal Entry 141–2, Day 11 – Phantom Pharaoh: Another extended journey to find the remains of Pharoah Neferkara, Kartrite journeyed deep beneath the Egyptian temple of Abu Simbel, even after many warnings. He and his team came across rooms filled with only bones. Bones. And more bones. And a mummy that wasn’t too pleased with their arrival. Escape this Egyptian tomb, but be careful not to wake the soul of the Pharaoh and his many mummified attendants.
Journal Entry 183–5, Day 9 – Swashbuckler’s Stockade: In a frivolous attempt to rescue the fair Maiden of Christchurch, Kartrite boarded a derelict wooden vessel under the cloak of darkness. What Kartrite didn’t know is that the son of Blackbeard and his pirates were waiting for him. What ensued was a swashbuckling adventure never told until today.
These treasure hunting pirates appear in the midst. Watch out! The scoundrels are always looking to relieve you of your bounty at the end of a sharply honed steel cutlass Due to their lust for riches, Poseidon has banished them to an eternity of unrest under tattered sails and stormy seas.
Journal Entry 208–6, Day 7 – Dungeons of Doom: In Budapest, if you know where to look, you can find a secret passage that leads directly to the dungeons of Dracula’s Castle. Kartrite found the passage and to this very day wishes that he hadn’t. Keep your family and friends close as you traverse the wicked lands of Vlad Tepes and his bloodthirsty hoards. Try to elude the shackles and iron maidens of this enchanted castle. Witness the dining hall built from the bones of the unrighteous that came before us. The specters, ghouls & skeletons from this mid-evil chamber will make you wish Kartrite’s Kurse were only a matter of fiction.
Quickly now there are still seven more spooky experiences on this fantastical adventure. But beware, there are creatures lurking behind and in front of you. Be prudent on your journey. Once you’ve escaped from the doomed expeditions of Kartrite’s Kurse, find respite, relaxation, a bite to eat and thirst-quenching drinks on the lamp-lit patio and share your own tales of epic adventure.
If you seek even more heart-stopping thrills, hop the Appalachian Express Mountain Coaster or soar down the 1000’ Dual Ziplines after dark. Both are sure to provide your daily dose of adrenaline. Zip & zoom through the trees like a creature of the night. Both attractions are now open in the darkness for an entirely new thrill. Stay Alert, you never know may be lurking in the shadows.
As a fellow adventurer, I urge you to share your stories to all those who follow in our footsteps. Only the brave will survive the perils & pitfalls of my curse.
